Full moon tonight and ground hog day. Does Hallmark make a card to celebrate this double event?
I teach Photoshop Elements to Older Adults at San Francisco City College. I love that class. Today was a riot. I really fell in a hole. My computer monitor is projected on a large screen for all the class to watch. I did or tried to do a valentine project with the class.
I forgot one very important step in the demonstrating the valentine- making process and could not figure out what I was doing wrong. Minutes ticked by. The class waited. A murmur grew to a buzz. Finally, I said, OK, take a break. I'll try to figure this out. When you come back, if I haven't discovered what is wrong, we will go on to something else.
Some students left for a break. Most waited to see what would happen. Going carefully over each step, I realized at last that I was using the wrong procedure to select and copy the heart-shape in order to paste it onto another image. I made the correct move. The red heart pasted neatly onto the new image. A cheer went up from the class...and from me!
I learned three very important lessons from the experience:
1. Don't try to hide the problem from the class
2. Don't ever lie about what is going on
3. Write better notes during the trial run of the demonstration.
I recorded my singing voice in a recording studio on Thursday. It's the first time I have tried singing and recording in a studio. It was OK, but sure not the same as being in a tunnel. At least I got something recorded from this better-than-ever Botox treatment to my larynx. I sure hope the doc can find this same spot again next time and in all future treatments. Currently, I sound like my pre-Spasmodic Dysphonia self.
I'll probably go to the tunnel on Sunday, if the weather is as good as predicted.
Hollow Earth Radio interviewed me via Skype for their podcast on Tuesday, January 31, 2007. They have some info and pictures archived on their webside: http://www.hollowearthradio.com/main/author/admin. I couldn't figure out how to actually hear the broadcast in the archive.
